Surface is a print magazine with content all about evolution related to board sports. This seasonal magazine including kite, surf, wake, skate and snowboarding relays on the related interests of the sports with sharing the same culture like a big family.

Size

To discover your print issue everywhere I tested different sizes. Small enough to fit in every back-bag and large enough to show beautiful pictures with all the detail.

Grid

I developed a fine mashed grid that gave me the possibility to position the content beyond the ordinary but made it possible to still structure the content with no limits.

Layout

For a chilled reading experience it was from importance to have enough space to breath so the every piece of content comes to glance.

Naming

The branding name reflects the most common parts of the various sports. The water, the snow, the street, the rough and soft, the curve and the flat, the static and the change. It’s all about the nature which serves us the prerequisite.

Issue N01

The wavy issue is the print to kick of the mag and fits to the upcoming surf season. It is detected to waves with a mix of short time filler and longer sophisticated articles like the weather conditions. Besides a broad verity of topics you can find a comprehensive gallery of photographers and artists.

The final product comes as high quality print with a matt finish. Like the naming so the material was from significance to correlate with the surface.
